UJ :: University of Jendouba

The University of Jendouba (UJ) is a public institution spread over 04 governorates (El-Kef, Beja, Jendouba, and Siliana) of the northwest region of Tunisia. Young and motivated, the UJ wishes to be recognized by the quality of its very diverse training programs. It comprises 13 institutions of higher education in languages, modern technologies, humanities, biology, medical sciences, arts, agriculture and sports. Its geographical location constitutes a cradle of different civilizations (prehistoric, Roman, modern and contemporary) that contains heritage monuments and archaeological sites within a large ecological and natural tourism park. Despite this rich potential, the region remains underdeveloped.
Thus, the present project aims at promoting the specific competences of the different beneficiaries of the planned actions which would empower the valorisation of the tangible and intangible heritage in the urban and rural areas alike. UJ main goal is to contribute to the implementation of new cultural strategies that integrate the notion of alternative tourism and aim at local and regional development.
Cultural mediation tools would be designed to enable young graduates to recognize the importance of valorising civilizational heritage and to develop ideas for socio-economic investment. Workshops would be carried out in research and co-design spaces involving stakeholders and using new technologies, innovative devices and info-points within the perspective of modernizing the approaches of promoting and safeguarding our heritage. The Higher Institute of Applied Studies in Humanities (ISEAH) and the Higher Institute of Music and Theater (ISMET), of the UJ, have the adequate resources and competences to integrate the project’s objectives in this region.
